Michael O. Emerson is the Harry and Hazel Chavanne Fellow in Religion and Public Policy at the Baker Institute, a policy research organization based at Rice University. He was the founding director of Rice’s Center on Race, Religion, and Urban Life. His publications include The Religion of Whiteness: How Racism Distorts Christian Faith (coauthored with Glenn E. Bracey II) and Blacks and Whites in Christian America (coauthored with Jason E. Shelton).
