The Consequences of Courage: We Will Not Comply (virtual event)

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this powerful virtual event with Israeli Refusers. We heard incredible stories of courage and the real consequences of refusing to participate in violence. Our guests challenged us all to ask the question, “What does courage look like for me?”

We heard from Itamar Greenberg who spent 197 days in prison for refusal to serve in the IDF, Sofia Orr who spent 85 days in prison for refusal to serve, and from an Israeli who will be refusing in October. We also heard from American Conscientious Objector Diana Oestreich, Iraq war veteran and Peacemaker, and learned about the history of conscientious objection through both a Christian and Jewish lens from RLC’s Shane Claiborne and FOR’s Ariel Gold.
