DESCRIPTION:In this special book club conversation\, Dr. Reggie Williams joins us to discuss his book\, Bonhoeffer’s Black Jesus. \nYou are invited: RLC April Book Club w/Reggie Williams (Bonhoeffer’s Black Jesus). After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting.\n \nRegister to Join Us!\nReggie Williams\, PhD is an Associate Professor of Theological Studies at St. Louis University and author of six books\, including the groundbreaking book Bonhoeffer’s Black Jesus: Harlem Renaissance Theology and an Ethic of Resistance\, which is widely considered one of the best works on Bonhoeffer’s time in America ever written. His book was named Outstanding Academic Title by Baylor Press and won Dr. Williams recognition in as a Black Christian Social Ethicist. His academic interests address the problem of an idealized humanity and community in Western world Christianity. By asking what it means to be Christian and human\, Williams explores how to recover from the distortions that turn Christ into a site for the promotion of harmful religious practices. His work draws widely upon Black studies\, theological studies\, and Christian Ethics.
