SUMMARY:RLC Professional Training Series: "Reels\, TikTok and New Technology"
DESCRIPTION:As a part of our Professional Training Series to equip our movement for effective direct action\, we are delighted to have Tim Whitaker lead us with a webinar in “Reels\, TikTok and New Technology”. \nThis Professional Training will be led by Tim Whitaker who will be sharing on why it’s more important than EVER that you/your organization is engaging a social media/digital audience. He will walk you through the basics of Instagram\, Tik-Tok and YouTube\, showing you how the platforms are different but equally important in spreading information. He’ll also talk about what makes a video engaging\, and programs to use that are easy to learn and make you look like a pro in no time! \nTim Whitaker is a dear friend of RLC’s and is Founder + Creator of The New Evangelicals. Growing up\, Tim always felt at home in evangelical spaces – until years later\, when his studying and questions caused him to no longer be welcomed at in his church community. Brokenhearted\, but undeterred\, Tim continued to pursue a deeper understanding of faith\, history\, theology and the evangelical church. The more he uncovers\, the more he realizes the importance of advocating for the marginalized in the church\, exploring the full depth and breadth of Christian faith traditions\, and holding toxic churches and leaders accountable. \n\n*This webinar is a part of RLC’s Professional Development Series that is open to the public and offered on a “pay what you can” basis. Please complete the donation form below and registration information will be emailed to you.  \nWe never want finances to be a barrier to access our programming\, but we are deeply grateful to all those who can fuel this work financially! If you can’t make a gift\, keep scrolling for an additional option. \n \nIf you are unable to support Red Letter Christians in order to attend this webinar\, please fill out the form below\, which allows you to register without making a gift.

SUMMARY:RLC Book Club with Cole Arthur Riley in conversation with Divya Rosaline David
DESCRIPTION:Join Cole Arthur Riley in conversation with Divya Rosaline David to discuss “Black Liturgies: Prayers\, Poems\, and Meditations for Staying Human.” \nFor years\, Cole Arthur Riley was desperate for a spirituality she could trust. Amid ongoing national racial violence\, the isolation of the pandemic\, and a surge of anti-Black rhetoric in many Christian spaces\, she began dreaming of a more human\, more liberating expression of faith. She went on to create Black Liturgies\, a digital project that connects spiritual practice with Black emotion\, Black memory\, and the Black body. \nIn this book\, she brings together hundreds of new prayers\, along with letters\, poems\, meditation questions\, breath practices\, scriptures\, and the writings of Black literary ancestors to offer forty-three liturgies that can be practiced individually or as a community. Inviting readers to reflect on their shared experiences of wonder\, rest\, rage\, and repair\, and creating rituals for holidays like Lent and Juneteenth\, Arthur Riley writes with a poet’s touch and a sensitivity that has made her one of the most important spiritual voices at work today. \nFor anyone healing from communities that were more violent than loving; for anyone who has escaped the trauma of white Christian nationalism\, religious homophobia\, or transphobia; for anyone asking what it means to be human in a world of both beauty and terror\, Black Liturgies is a work of healing and empowerment\, and a vision for might be. \nAbout the author: \nCole Arthur Riley is a writer and poet. She is the NYT bestselling author of This Here Flesh and Black Liturgies. Her writing has been featured in The Atlantic\, Guernica\, The Boston Globe\, and The Washington Post. \nCole is also the creator of Black Liturgies\, a space that integrates spiritual practice with Black emotion\, Black literature\, and the Black body; and a project of The Center for Dignity and Contemplation where she serves as Curator. \nZoom registration link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAkcuyvrT8oE9MrccM6L3HzFb2N8xKMAqWb \nWe’ll be live on Twitter\, Facebook and YouTube; register to join us on Zoom. \nFind us streaming live on Red Letter Christian’s Facebook\, Twitter\, or YouTube channels and register to join us on Zoom: \nRegister Here Now on Zoom or join us live on Facebook or YouTube.
