DESCRIPTION:As a part of our Professional Training Series to equip our movement for effective direct action\, we are delighted to have Guthrie Graves-Fitzsimmons lead us with a webinar in “How to Write an Op-ed” where you will learn to craft concise\, effective\, and prophetic commentary. \nPublishing an op-ed is a powerful tool to speak out against Christian nationalism and present an alternative Christian witness to the public. This in-depth training will guide you from picking an idea\, drafting your content\, and pitching it to a news outlet for them to publish. We’ll discuss popular outlets and who decides what gets published and why. You will depart the training ready to place your first op-ed\, or new ideas for seasoned writers. \nThe training is led by Guthrie Graves-Fitzsimmons\, who has written or ghost-written more than 200 op-eds in the New York Times\, Washington Post\, MSNBC\, CNN\, and many other publications. He’s currently the Communications Director at BJC. He earned his undergraduate degree from American University in Washington\, D.C.\, and his Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
