DESCRIPTION:Transatlantic Conversations About Resilient Discipleship:\nSustaining Creativity with Mark Scandrette & Leone Martin \nHow can Christian discipleship inform and inspire our spirituality\, leadership practices and vision for God’s in-breaking\, new urban world? \nOn three Friday evenings in March\, Red Letter Christians UK and Seedbeds School for Urban Leadership are teaming up to host Transatlantic Conversations about Resilient Discipleship’ featuring conversation partners focussing on a key area of resilience from contexts on both sides of the oceans. \nEach evening will begin with a Pay-As-You-Feel Meal at 6pm (provided by the Real Junkfood Project)\, followed by the main event at 7:15 at Lodge Road Community Church in Birmingham. The event will also be streamed to Facebook Live via @redletterchristiansuk.\n________________________________________ \nFriday\, 11th March\nShane Claiborne (Co-Founder of Red Letter Christians US) and Danielle Wilson (Co-Director of Red Letter Christian UK) discuss Sustaining Leadership \nFriday\, 18th March\nTBC (USA via Zoom) and Anji Barker (Newbigin Community Trust) discuss Sustaining Activism \nFriday\, 25th March\nMark Scandrette (Nine Beats) and Leone Martin (Fit for Purpose) discuss Sustaining Creativity \n___________________________________________ \nMark Scandrette is an internationally recognized expert in practical Christian spirituality. He is the founding director of ReIMAGINE: A Center for Integral Christian Practice\, where he leads an annual series of retreats\, workshops and projects designed to help participants apply spiritual wisdom to everyday life. His multidisciplinary studies in applied psychology\, family health and theology have shaped his approach to learning and transformation. He is on the creative team for NINE BEATS collective\, a project exploring the beatitudes as a 21st vocabulary for the living way of Jesus. A sought after voice for creative\, radical and embodied faith practices\, he frequently speaks at universities\, churches and conferences nationally and internationally and also serves as adjunct faculty in the doctoral program at Fuller Theological Seminary. His most recent books include The Ninefold Path of Jesus\, FREE\, Practicing the Way of Jesus and Belonging and Becoming (with Lisa Scandrette). \nMark lives with his wife Lisa and their three young adult children in an old Victorian in San Francisco’s Mission District. He loves walking city streets and discovering beauty in unexpected places. He is passionately engaged in sustainability practices and efforts to create safe neighborhoods for all people. Mark is committed to seeking the common good of his neighborhood and city through personal action and organized efforts towards justice\, compassion and ecological sustainability. He focuses his local efforts on neighborhood safety and police reform. \nCurrently Mark is committed to providing the best spiritual formation training possible to leaders in emerging global contexts\, with recent travels to Bangladesh\, East Africa and Ecuador. He also serves as an advocate for the work of Compassion International\, an organization that provides wholistic child development services to children living in the poorest communities on the planet. \n________________________________________ \nReverand Leoné Martin is an Associate Pastor at Cannon Street Memorial Baptist Church. She studied for her BA in Theology at Spurgeon’s College. She is passionate about equipping the people of God for every good work through her preaching\, teaching and writing. \nBefore entering ministry full time she worked in the marketplace holding senior roles in marketing\, product development and innovation as well as working as freelance learning and development consultant. She has worked with a range of global and national companies such as Holiday Inn\, Intel\, British Medical Journal and Mears. She is dedicated to using her commercial experience to advance the kingdom of God. \nShe is also the author of Fit For Purpose a 90 devotion written to inspire people to walk boldly in their God-given purpose and to help them realise their full potential in and through Christ.
