We’re thrilled to welcome historian, pastor, and truth-teller Dr. Malcolm Foley as our July Book Club guest. He’ll be in conversation with Shane Claiborne to discuss his timely and convicting book, “The Anti-Greed Gospel”.
In this bold and necessary work, Malcolm Foley uncovers the greed at the root of American racism—and invites Christians to confront it with the values of the gospel. Drawing from deep wells of historical scholarship and lived pastoral experience, Foley exposes how the pursuit of wealth and power has fueled racial violence from slavery and lynching to present-day injustice. But he doesn’t stop there.
Through the witness of figures like Ida B. Wells and the framework of racial capitalism, Foley calls on the church to become a community marked by solidarity over selfishness, truth over silence, and generosity over greed. With clarity and conviction, The Anti-Greed Gospel challenges us to take the next faithful step toward racial justice and economic repair.
