Poem by Reynolds Chapman
The storytelling of the oppressed
Will have its enemies
Like flowers have weeds
Drought, pavement, extraction
We will not stop planting
Weeding, keeping watch
Over unpossessed places
And if the whole world is paved and dry
The earth will let out a great groan
And reclaim the One to whom she belongs
The burning sand will become a pool
The weeds will burn
The Lily of the Valley cannot be buried
Without a resurrection
