Dr. Matthew Rindge is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Gonzaga University. He has taught at Emory University, Candler School of Theology, Columbia Theological Seminary, and in several Asian, Latin American, and European countries. His second book is Profane Parables: Film and the American Dream (2016). In addition to dozens of academic articles on diverse topics, his writings on Religion and Culture have appeared in outlets such as Sojourners and The Washington Post. He also speaks regularly on issues related to Religion and Culture. He formerly directed Project SHINE at Emory which recruited and trained college students to help immigrants and refugees in Atlanta learn English. For two years in Northwest Pasadena (CA) he lived at the Harambee Center, a community development organization in an inner-city neighborhood. He served for several years on Gonzaga’s Sexual Assault Response Team. In 2011, Dr. Rindge received the Paul J. Achtemeier Award in New Testament Scholarship, an international award a scholar can only receive once in her career. In 2012, he was honored with a Gonzaga University Exemplary Faculty Award. Dr. Rindge chairs the Bible and Film section in the Society of Biblical Literature.
